Thomas Kinkaid has long been an inspiration to us. We wanted to share some of his most beautiful images with you as well as his wise and inspiring words. Enjoy It!

Perseverance

In Perseverance; thunder crashes, sails billow, waves toss the fragile boat. We see that the clouds are about to break. A sea bird calls out " caw, caw, caw." The sea will calm; the sailor's perseverance will soon be rewarded by a return to God's safe heaven. He will go on shore leave and get some real pussy and stop having to give it to other guys up the ass! Anyway, perhaps this painting can assure each of us that if we can simply persevere, God's big old hand of love will soon disperse each storm.

Petals Of Hope

I sometimes visualize faith as a garden, where hope is in abundant bloom. My garden is full of pansies dancing 'round an enchanted fairy ring of portobello mushrooms. In Petals of Hope, we've entered the garden where Sir Elton John is hiding behind an azalea bush. Lavish blossoms dazzle the eye and the air is fragrant with a musky, earthy sexuality. Take it in!

The Prince Of Peace

How true this was for me in 1980 when, as an art student, I came to have a personal relationship with Christ. Just a few weeks later, awash in my newfound faith, I found myself sitting in an art class, my mind wandering. I was thinking about corndogs. As I went through the motions, my eyes on the disinterested model posing for the class (he had a real “I don’t care” attitude), I was suddenly struck with a powerful vision... a jack-o-lantern with a red light glowing inside. Scary as shit! Anyway, here is a picture of Jesus wearing a cool headband and looking sad.

Home for the Holidays

Home for the Holidays is an example of memory and imagination blending together to create an idyllic all white vision. Who hasn't daydreamed about driving your sleigh to visit friends for a bit of Christmas Eve cheer? Presents will be exchanged, prayers offered, petty jealousies insinuated, wives swapped and perhaps a mug of steaming cider with grain alcohol will send you on your way. By the way, my three year old daughter, Butch, is a wonderful nude model for paintings like this, and in tribute to her efforts, her name adorns the mailbox to the right of the sleigh.

The Old Fishin Hole

THE OLD FISHIN' HOLE is an idyllic image of childhood which reminds us of the simple pleasures of a summer day. Fishing was one of our summer pastimes, and we all had our favorite holes. Grandpa’s hole was dark and dry, but cousin Janet’s was mossy and moist. Covered bridges like this one were rarities in the Sierra foothills, but it seemed, at least in our boyhood imaginings, that Satan gathered in the shadowy depths under those dramatic old bridges to watch and laugh at us. The morning sun dapples the scene in the radiant light of memory.

Abundant Harvest

For many, the Napa Valley has come to symbolize the incredible fruitfulness of the good earth that God created, and a decent Merlot. With its radiant sunshine, cooling morning mists, steak houses, cute Birkenstock wearing blondes with nice cans, and abundant annual harvest of grapes, this cloistered valley truly is a piece of paradise. When Jesus performed his first miracle, turning water into wine at a gay wedding feast in Cabo San Lucas, he clearly was celebrating the overflowing of God's blessings for those who know how to take it all the way down. God is truly the giver of all good gifts, and the natural process of growth and harvest each year throughout the globe testifies to this, except in Niger, but who the hell wants to vacation there?

Rock Of Salvation

I was struck, recently, by the gospel music phrase "the rock of salvation." The way blacks sing, holler and carry on at church is always very inspiring to me. Suddenly I felt myself challenged to present the phrase in one of my prints. Rock of Salvation will be the last creation in my Suicide Memories series. Though watching the "sun set" over this seven-year series of works is nostalgic and slightly bittersweet, I look forward to the "sun rise" of a new prescription to antidepressants.
